Meet Talen Andersen
Talen Andersen
is a performer, composer, and educator based in Northern California. Whether it be on stage or in the classroom, he lives and breathes music as a lifestyle.
Talen’s performance experience spans more than a decade across California. While he mostly performs as a solo act, he has also collaborated with various bands and ensembles. While voice is his primary instrument, he also plays guitar, bass, piano, drums, ukulele, and mandolin. Talen is also an accomplished stage actor, having appeared in several musical theatre productions.
Talen wrote his first song in high school, which he recorded on a CD, which currently sits at the bottom of a dusty box in the attic. Since then, he has honed his craft as a songwriter, which has also blended with his newfound love of classical composition acquired during his music studies. Talen loves the challenge of music composition regardless of the genre, finding joy in “solving the puzzle” of it all.
Talen taught general music, choir, band, and drama in the classroom for 4 years. Since then, he has found a new avenue for teaching through private lessons in voice, guitar, keys, bass, and music theory. His classroom is engaging, enriching, and collaborative. Talen believes that music is a divine gift and has the potential to reshape lives. The study and performance of music have given Talen so much, and he aims to give that back through music instruction. He is and always will be an advocate for the essentiality of music in our schools, and works to see that mentality come to fruition.
Outside of music and performing, Talen enjoys playing TTRPGs (mainly Dungeons & Dragons), playing Pokémon with his online friends (sometimes very badly), and dreaming about his next Disney vacation (he’s a proud Disney Adult). He is a husband and father of one, and loves his growing family very much.
